As usual, no prizes for guessing; just a pat on your back! And you may leave your original conclusions in the comments, I look forward to them.

The answer is BREAD! Those aren't slices of bread under the pot and cups! The loaf of bread is actually Toast It; a cork bread-shaped trivet / coaster that adds a dash of humor to your mornings! Ligthen up! Have some fun at the breakfast table, will ya!

So when you think… laptop… how quickly does your mind drift or skippy skip on over to bamboo? Not quick! But let me tell you, when the two are rammed together, you’ve got comfort. You’ve got some floor pillows, low tables, and rugs for your loving eyeballs to glance upon. This is the 2010 Manila Fame International April 2010 Buyers Lounge as designed and whipped up by designer James Jeffert Ong.

When you get to the Manila, Philippines part of the world, you might notice some strange connections. Bamboo. Computers. Look at them! Finally someone, namely James Jeffert Ong, has put the two together in order to put people with money in a comfortable position to buy buy buy!

And I must say, with bamboo above, pillows below, and a computer right up in front of my face, this would be the greatest place on earth to be posting and peeking at Yanko.

Forget the Chair Back

Posted: 07 May 2010 01:49 AM PDT

Sometimes you just forget to complete your project. This might SEEM like one of those times, but I say thee nay! This is meant to be exactly what it’s called, the “Uncompleted Chair.” When one lives in a tiny apartment, one finds a place for every essential thing. Or one gets a dirty apartment and one gets kicked out of the complex! So the design duo Chia-Wei, Lin and Jui-Lu, Shih whipped up this chair that’s a container for umbrellas.

You’ve got first, one more bit of space because your back of chair is gone, then another bit of free space because your umbrellas have a place to sit. The illusion of a back of chair then creates an acceptable place for storage where usually only the closet would do.

To Be Cornered!

Posted: 07 May 2010 01:25 AM PDT

Have you ever seen a circular barn? You know why they make those? So the DEVIL can’t corner you! That’s what’s up. You know what else is up? This shelf. It’s up off the ground, right in the corner, right where you want it. Designed by Marie Dessuant and titled “Etagère de coin” aka “Corner Shelf,” for probably what you might call obvious reasons. From an extended group of furnitures also by Marie Dessuant called the “Vague Objects” collection. But really, really it’s totally exciting. Totally!

You could put your FIREBALLS on here! 75 x 90 x 210 cm and made entirely of painted wood. A straight shot between furniture and microarchitecture. A single step on a ladder, emphasizing the corner of the room.

Not for houses with small kids or puppies!

Ornamental Pluggings

Posted: 07 May 2010 12:00 AM PDT

Here is a completely refreshing take on the drab power strip! Ornamental almost akin to a Ming classic, the 360° rotating plug sockets are fascinating! Each socket on the Takoyaki has a router function and once you hook in a plug, the rim around comes to life as a nice blue glow. Ideal if you want to use it as a nightlight, because these kinds of power strips, you don't want to hide anywhere. In fact, you can actually be a show-off and find them a prominent place!
