Posted: 15 Dec 2010 01:18 AM PST I think the I-Green concept is brills. Designer Fandi Meng already has an iF and Good Design award for previous work so I’d expect nothing less. The I-Green is a small bike peripheral that turns kinetic energy into electrical to charge nearly any portable device. I like to ride my bike with my phone to track my progress but the GPS sensor kills the battery. This seems like an awesome idea to keep my phone juiced up. I’ll take one but please but, maybe in another color? Designer: Fandi Meng ---------- |
One Part Stool, One Part Drink Holder Posted: 15 Dec 2010 01:10 AM PST It’s an end table with an adjustable arm for your drinks. Mr. Waiter looks permanently bemused but this is the next best thing if you can’t go all out for catering. You can even sit on him. With a couple of these at your next shindig, you can claim “personal butler attention” on the RSVP only invites. Designer: Jose Jorge Hinojosa Primo ---------- |
Posted: 15 Dec 2010 01:05 AM PST Say Cheese! You’re posing for three pictures at one go. It's no trick photography but a UCIM Camera hosting three USB ports for three memory sticks. The idea behind this concept is to instantly share the same set of photos with 2 other people using their personal USB sticks. I reckon if this were refined to enable custom photo selects and include video recording, then we’d have a winner. What do you think? Designer: Jung Eun Park ---------- |
Posted: 15 Dec 2010 01:02 AM PST The Panel Bin has a metal spiral rib that stretches and adjusts to varying heights for your convenience. Simply line it with a disposable bag and you have a dustbin ready for use. The collapsible nature may be its unique selling point, but for me it's the flat-pack convenience of storing and transporting that scores brownie points. Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:03 AM PST As you may already be aware, Little Thoughts Group is holding an exhibition by the name of Imprints: Designing for Memories at the National Museum of Singapore. This project (and one other we wrote yesterday, plus more) are currently up at that museum until January 11th, 2011. Take a look! Take a peek here first, of course. This project goes by the name of Kampong Cuckoo and it’s a clock of memories. It recalls the designers time as a child in 1970’s Singapore, where the sounds of growing up are now instilled inside the clocks works. The number “5″ is mirrored in the clocks face because the designer had some mishaps with the number (and it’s a favorite!) The white wind-up key is held on with a magnet and can open the clock body from the side. Inside the clock is access to its batteries and some nice shelves. As this clock chimes, it reveals new sounds for each impression. Recalling a childhood is as simple as counting the hours in a day: 1am : mosquito Notice the lack of a certain hour in the PM. Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:03 AM PST Headphones with a small eco-footprint? Well that’s just crazy! Wait though, looks like there’s something like that right here: “thinksound ts02+mic” – and they say they sound incredible. Made with real wood creating natural resonance and “unparalleled acoustics.” Sounds like some sweetness to me! Even the packaging is made with recycled materials using minimal plastic components. The cables are PVC-free and the wood is chosen from renewable sources. Super! Take a peek at the official specs:

Shadows and Light, Walls Delight Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:03 AM PST Now, I know we’ve posted about some 3D wall panels before, but I don’t think any of them were made by a group that specializes in just that – making your walls spectacularly professional in a way that’s so rare you can’t help but look up in awe of it. These are Dimensional Wall Panels by 3DWalldecor. Each of them is modular, easy to apply, and easy to paint. Light and shadows made for fantastical looks and feels. Each panel is made of environmentally friendly bamboo pulp, perfectly suitable for decorating walls and ceilings in any manner of location. Homes, shops, restaurants, offices, and meeting areas are all amongst the groups suggested locations for such divine building blocks. When I post this, there are four designs available. This group and this project are brand new and I wouldn’t be surprised if it blew the heck up over night with insane popularity and mad internet spread. Designer: 3DWalldecor ---------- |
