Posted: 19 Apr 2010 08:18 AM PDT Ooo I am loving this idea. Tok Took (say it fast!) Power Plug is a better and safer plug. The entire system works like a retractable pen with a toggle system. The prongs are hidden from touch until you lock it into the socket and press down. I imagine a hearing a satisfying “click” when doing so. It’s supposed to reduce the risk of electric shock and is a great way to “unplug” devices when not in use. Save energy people! Ooo and look at the cute little caddy. It’s adorable! Posted: 19 Apr 2010 08:12 AM PDT A better and bolder teacup set. The T-Win Demitasse Cup looks strangely alien to me for some reason yet the only things different about it are very subtle. The ringlet handles are oddly placed. I’m not sure I like it because having a handle so high up means the rest of my hand touches the cup which if filled with hot tea won’t be a pleasurable experience. On the other hand, I love how the center of the saucer rises up into the cup to prevent it from slipping. Designer: Karl Baxter |
Last Chance! Win A bobble For Earth Day! Posted: 19 Apr 2010 08:06 AM PDT In case you’ve been under a rock, we’ve been giving away 5 bobbles a week until Earth Day April 22nd. We’re now in the final week so this is seriously your last chance. bobble is a new water bobble with a built-in and replaceable carbon filter good for 300 refills. Floored By The Sonic Emotional Pulse Of Music Posted: 19 Apr 2010 04:00 AM PDT What do we have for our audiophiles today? A glorious, sleek and majestic player called the Sonic Emotional Pulse Of Music designers by Chen Guoheng. Going by the norm of transparent covers showcasing the disk spinning fast, this one goes a step ahead and partially exposes the spinning disk. Fiber optic cables are used to hook this baby up, with shimmy blue LEDs emitting a soft glow right below the speakers. The highlight of course is the equalizer waves that move in sync with the beat of the music. Designer: Chen Guoheng |
Posted: 19 Apr 2010 12:10 AM PDT It’s not a tank! It’s a pot. It’s a pot top. It’s for cooking with! It’s called the “FUNction” It’s got a dolphin tail on it! Or I suppose you could call it whatever kind of tail you want, but designer Sangyoon Kim says it’s a dolphin. I’m inclined to agree! Under the tail, also called the knob in this situation, is a heat-resistant silicone mat which represents the ocean. And like the ocean, it keeps the users from touching the pot. Because the pot? It is hot. Do not touch the pot. It gives you joy and takes away bad experiences. You see? It’s like a double-down. It takes away badness and adds goodness. Just like the mighty dolphin! Who until now, was not allowed in the pot! Designer: Sangyoon Kim |
Posted: 19 Apr 2010 12:08 AM PDT What weighs a little over 25 lbs. and whines incessantly about everything it sees? No, not Victoria Beckham. It’s that baby you have strapped to your back in what is being called the “JoinUs” by designer Robert Jurgens for Dadanana. Simply put, it’s what Native Americans once called a “papoose”, but we Yanko-vittes will just call it a backpack for babies. This slick design is light, practical and comes with both a kick-stand and weather guard. And just like David Beckham, you too will feel the sweet warm embrace of having a constant navigator telling you where to go and what to spend your money on. Posted: 19 Apr 2010 12:06 AM PDT How simple a light do you want for your desktop? How about one with a couple joints, a base, a wire, and a bit of shine? Well hay! We’ve got that right here! Designed by Swedish design and architecture studio TAF for Scandinavian design company Muuto. One of the most prominent hopes for this project was to project the idea of Honesty. That’s why all bolts, joints, and screws are emphasized. So cute! Can you imagine all the lovely little things you could paint on all the sides? I wouldn’t recommend painting the insides though, as that can sometimes lead to… fumes. Although, then you might get all loopy and the lamp will look even better! No don’t do that! Only laugh at the thought of it. This Wood Lamp is made of pine approximately 50 cm. tall, and it comes with either a green or white cord. Designer: TAF for Muuto |
Floating Above the City on Rails Posted: 19 Apr 2010 12:03 AM PDT Here’s something I believe I’ve seen in Gotham City, that mythical magical city of futuristic proportions you’ve all glanced upon in the series Batman. But this is more real! Depending on how you look upon it. It’s a train system designed by two loving designers who want to make transport for the people also above the people and looking upon the people. Transparent sides! Yessir, this train both runs on electromagnetics and has roofs and sides made of transparent polycarbonate. It’s already neat! But it doesn’t stop there. This train also runs high above the city, the towers it’s attached to also ripe for the attachment of road-level electronics like stoplights, bus stops, and other media. At the tops of the towers are urban wind power generators. On top of each of the train cars are solar power generators. The interiors of the cars are mostly open, with seats along the sides to conserve space. The seats inside the cars are made of Corian which is both strong and easy to clean. OLED panels, touch screen interfaces, Wi-Fi internet, headphone jacks, Bluetooth, information boards, interactivity galore! And best of all, you can see everything in the city as you pass by! This would make for an amazing tourist situation if implemented in a beautiful city. Designer: Elisa Sayuri Freitas Irokawa and Rafael Osmar de Oliveira e Costa |
