Projecting With OO Posted: 08 Mar 2010 04:47 AM PST Built from semi monocoque carbon fiber, the durable OO wireless projector is a part of the GEO series from designer David Riesenberg. As he explains, the projector displays high definition (1080p) data via WiFi or internal SSD storage and works independently from any wire for up to 3 hours. It does rely on its internal Li-Ion battery for some support but hooks up to any power source (via a single wire), should the need arise. Thanks to the combo of WiFi and internal storage, OO doubles up as an extender/duplicator of an external display or as a wireless media projector/streamer with built in decoding capabilities. Manipulating the stance of the projector is easy, thanks to its three independently articulated legs. And to work it like magic, a fully touchscreen remote come in handy, however it can work without the remote in extender/duplicator mode after pre configuration. Getting A Drip On Light Posted: 08 Mar 2010 03:47 AM PST The Ring-ge-roo Light shuttles between innovative, unique and kitsch! It definitely takes the sting out of a hospital drip, which is loathsome yet essential. The uniqueness lies in the way the design uses LED and water for effectively refracting light and creating an eccentric ambiance. I wouldn't mind hanging this off my arm; just to get some special effects I’d use colored water, as recommended by the designer. Designer: OWA Innovation Design Group

Revenge Of The G-Spot Mouse Posted: 08 Mar 2010 02:52 AM PST Its International Women's Day and its befitting that I confuse you guys with Andy Kurovets' Maze Of Time. There is a connection between the two… you had fun at the expense of the female anatomy and now it's time to pay for those silly smirks! The Maze Of Time watch uses colors in a kaleidoscopic way to represent the time. So when you see a chaotic yellow line below, it's actually the number "1". Blue is the number "2", red color stands for "3", and "4" corresponds to the green etc. Kinda TokyoFlash-esque and time to get your grey cells working! Designer: Andy Kurovets

Lovely Globey Ironing Posted: 08 Mar 2010 02:05 AM PST I know when you think Futuristic, you think Ironing. I know that when you drew (or draw) pictures of the future with crayons, you made sure those space-people had nice, no-wrinkle shirts on, right? Right! So what we need here is Adam Wendel’s “Infinity Iron.” It is an iron for the future. For sure. With its interactive nature and unique form, it will make the world a flatter place, with great skill and aesthetically pleasing form. And it’s made to prevent arthritis. That horrible, horrible hand job that 1 in 3 people are affected by. Using this machine is grace. The shell pivots along the center sphere, reducing the amount of turning the wrist of the hand has to do drastically. The center sphere also acts as a water reservoir for steaming. The device automatically gets hot (quickly) when the hand touches the top, and has sensors on the bottom too, turning off if it senses the risk of burning or catching on fire. The water ball illuminates to a lovely blue when the desired heat is reached, having been programmed in by you on the OLED touch screen on the top, the display and the control. The shell has the screen on the front, and textured rubber on the back for superior grip. Designer: Adam Wendel

This lamp right here is called the “Nissyoku”, and it is inspired by just that fabulous lunar event, the solar eclipse. Join me, if you will, in exploring all the ways you might use its special swiveling pieces held together with magnetics, magic, and wonder. This is a unique lamp, if I do say so myself. A lamp I’d love to have hanging by my side when I address the world on fabulous alien design. But it’s made by humans! IGENdesign designed the heck out of this little diddy. Two sides consisting of len-form panels move multiple directions, letting loose light where they may. These two panels move smoothly along their concave hole homes, each of them fixes on the lamp by magnets alone. And how to turn on the light? All you must do is tap the middle metal ring. Entertain Yourself: Jamo A 804 Speakers Posted: 08 Mar 2010 12:27 AM PST In part 1 of our Entertain Yourself series we took a look at the Sony BRAVIA NX800 3D HDTV. It’s our pick for amazing picture quality, industrial design, and packs a wallop of future proof technologies to take you far beyond 2010. Tho the built-in speakers are a wonder in themselves we wanted dedicated speakers. Last year we came across the Jamo A 804 and have been in love ever since. A beautiful television demands an equally beautiful speaker system. If you take a look at what’s available on the market, speakers are either 80’s industrial boxes or beautifully crafted modern exercises. The former is all performance with no thought to design and the latter is just the opposite, too much design with subpar acoustics. Is there a happy medium? Take one look at the A 804 – it’s gorgeous! The piano black finish is accented with black leather; fluidic yet technical in appearance. The size is dominating but well suited to Sony’s new monolithic design aesthetic. It’s absolutely stunning and only enhances the entertainment area. Speakers don’t have to be hidden. They can be proudly displayed and the A 804 is more than capable of holding its own amongst the best hardware makers and designers in the industry. Prior to installing the A 804, we were using a Yamaha Sound Bar which we LOVE. The simulated 5.1 audio system is just the ticket for something better than stereo. The A 804 can function as a single, double, or a full on 5+ speaker setup and it’s the versatility that’ll make any audio guru happy. Unlike other speaker systems, you don’t need a full blown out package to get massive sound. We only have two A 804’s and a subwoofer and we’re more than elated. You will need a receiver to drive the speakers. We’re using a Pioneer model but even when hooked up to a small Denon unit, the sound was full, crisp, and balanced between the high, mids, and lows. The A 804 is a 3-way, bassreflex speaker. The rigid cabinet constructed from high-gloss, lacquered aluminum, steel and high-density polymer results in a stable, non-resonant cabinet with very clean sound reproduction. One of the secrets of the A 804 lies in its flow-optimized bass port, which delivers extremely clean bass, even at high volume. The silk dome midrange/tweeter is a Jamo developed co-axial unit featuring WaveGuide technology. The clever three-way construction of the A 804 produces a perfect sound dispersion pattern, giving you maximum freedom when positioning your flatscreen, surround system and sofa. Its hard to visualize but sit anywhere around the TV and you never hear the sound drop off. It’s continuous and rich from the farthest corner of our seating arrangement. A Giraffe Fork And A Monkey Spoon Posted: 08 Mar 2010 12:15 AM PST I’m suffering from cute overload because this concept is just too… well, cute! The Children’s Cutlery and Dinner Set (they can do better than that) attempts to tie in the joys of eating with a bit of education. Kids can learn about animals while training to use flatware. Where’s the adult version huh? I want lions, panthers, bears, and a platypus. Yea a PLATYPUS. I want the plate to be a training stage for real manly eating – a Mortal Combat dining experience if you will. Designers: Hyomi Kim & Seulgi Kim

No Excuse For Bad Oral Hygiene Posted: 08 Mar 2010 12:10 AM PST At most it only takes 10 minutes to go thru a proper oral cleaning routine but many of us are guilty of skimping out. You know who you are. They have devices that do all the work now so there’s no excuse but in this immediately gratifying lifestyle we always want the easy way out so the Steward Oral Care system is here to save the day. It’s a toothbrush that caddies disposable doses of toothpaste and mouthwash. The bottom even flips open to reveal a spool of floss. The idea is bad oral hygiene may be systemic laziness so if we make it as easy and convenient as possible, people will do better. Agree or disagree? Designer: Emami Design

The Tiniest Room Posted: 08 Mar 2010 12:00 AM PST In each little room is a little place where you can stay between trips. This sort of project has been done on Yanko before, see if you can spot it! But this is definitely a bit different. For shizzle. This one’s for a larger cross-section of locations. Small, independent bubbles made for versatility. For placement in places with large concentrations of people like airports, sea ports, events, resorts, international fairs. Micro locations for the macro plan. They’re small, but luxury. Equipped with a bathroom, a bedroom, a high degree of technology in a small area. Inexpensive, reduced to the essential. And guess what inspired this little ditty? A womb. The designers aim this project to transmit a feeling of wombness, I’d call it: a feeling of protection “in contrast to the movement and agitation to the outside world.” I know I get agitated by the outside world. Inside this world though, that’d be really rad!
